(Tasted in August 2021, but not previously published)
This is the first varietal Petite Pearl I've ever tried.
12% alc./vol. Intense, saturated black-cherry colour, all the way to the meniscus.
Complex, black-cherry/black-elderberry nose—super interesting. There's also a hint of a medicinal aroma for added interest and fun (might that be a whiff of Brettanomyces?).
Lithe, tart, and dry texture on the entry. Clean and lean. This is followed by some oaky vanillin spice on the mid-palate. Overall, there's an excellent, classic, dry red wine character.
Relatively expensive at $30, and only available at the winery...but well worth the education.
